Ok so you want a website to represent your business. That's great but before you contact your web designer, try to know as much as possible about what you want from your website. It is an unfortunate fact that a lot of business owners and individuals who want a website, expect to be able to simply place an order for say a 10 page site and then it'll all be done in a matter of weeks.
If you approach the subject like this then sure, you'll get a site out of it, but you are more likely to end up with one you don't particularly like and that doesn't work for you in the way you want it to. If you are paying good money for a website and you want it to work for you then you need to have some idea about what you want and don't want.
If a web designer is worth their weight they will ask you to complete some basic questions. This will enable them to gather all the information they need to be able to visualise and create the perfect website for you and so they can quote an accurate price for the work.
The questions will more often than not ask you to describe your business, identify your customers or target customers and your competition, what tone you would like to set with the website, what sites you like and ones you don't, amongst a few others.
The time it takes to answer these questions will enable a far more efficient and effective web design process, eliminating guess work on the designer's side and minimising time on your side making design revisions. So the more you can help your web designer the more successful your finished website will ultimately be.
I have to say that in terms
of a really well laid out and
clean website it is a
fantastic one. The others
are so long and busy or
really dated. I'm really
chuffed and it was so quick!
