Should I Invest in Google Adwords?

Google Adwords

For those who don't know, Google Adwords are the small adverts you see at the top and right of Google when you have performed a search, otherwise called sponsored links.

They're an affordable way of getting click-throughs to your website if your site isn't listed well in the natural listings.

As an overview, Google Adwords works on a system of bidding for search terms. The more popular the search term and the more advertisers there are for that search term, the more money you will have to spend. However if you find a search term which isn't that popular with advertisers, but is still very relevant to you then this would be your best bet.

All the ins and outs of how Google Adwords works are well documented elsewhere on the web, however whether or not you should use it is a different matter.

People who tend to see the best results are those who have e-commerce websites or are offering services for a fee as they see the best return on investment. If for instance, you have an information-based website then it may not be worth your while and you're better off working on ranking high in the natural listings.

Although getting listed in the natural listings is always advisable, if you have a brand new website, you may not see yourself there for a while. In the mean time, if it is important for you to get your name out there, then it would be a good idea to allocate a daily budget towards Google Adwords.

I have to say that in terms of a really well laid out and clean website it is a fantastic one. The others are so long and busy or really dated. I'm really chuffed and it was so quick!
