the shop fronts of the future

Why your business needs a website

websites are the shop fronts of the future

For some businesses, word of mouth is all they need to make a good living. They rely on customers passing on their phone number together with a good recommendation. This relaxed method of marketing works well for a lot of businesses and saves them lots of money too. This is an idyllic position to be in but also quite unrealistic for most small businesses. Unfortunately for most, relying entirely on the fact that people will phone to discuss their problems / needs and then convincing them they can do the job isn't enough to make the money they need.

If you are a small business owner or start-up you need to have some way of connecting with your potential customers to show them what your business is all about. The traditional and more conventional way of doing this is to rent a shop and display all your products or services in the window. This is great if you're a business wanting to attract walk-bys and local customers, but obviously there are vast ongoing costs associated with this and then the downside of limiting yourself only to local customers. You will still need to feed money into other marketing efforts to make people aware of your business and it's whereabouts.

The modern and future equivalent is to have a website to represent you online. This is quite simply the shop front of the future. For a small start-up it doesn't need to be anything fancy, it just needs to look professional, modern and trustworthy, and display all the information and contact details a potential customer needs to know to turn them into an actual customer.

Businesses who fail to recognise that they need a website could be missing out on a huge amount of business. Nowadays a quick online search is far more popular than sifting through the Yellow Pages, therefore you need some kind of online presence to represent the business. A lot of businesses just have their address and contact information on directories online, but what they don't realise is that this doesn't tell us anything about their business, and if it's listed next to a business offering the same services which does happen to have a website then they will more often than not clinch that client.

People like to do their own research on businesses before contacting them; comparing products and services and how trustworthy they appear. Therefore the more of this you portray the more people you will attract.

Whether you like this digital age or not, websites are the future shop fronts, and their importance shouldn't be underestimated.

I have to say that in terms of a really well laid out and clean website it is a fantastic one. The others are so long and busy or really dated. I'm really chuffed and it was so quick!
